The South Queensferry Branch of the British Sub-Aqua Club was formed in 1982 by a few keen local divers, and since then has grown to around 40 members who come from not only from South Queensferry but from Edinburgh and the Lothians and with some from even further afield. Club Members have very diverse underwater interests, Photography, Sea Search Projects, and Wreck Diving being a few, but with one thing in common – a love of diving and the furtherance of the sport.
MEMBERSHIP
Although the club is a branch of BSAC, and all training is carried out to the BSAC training scheme, membership is open to any diver with a recognised qualification from other agencies. However, only BSAC members can obtain qualifications from the club.
MEETINGS
Pool Sessions to train New Divers and for further Training will run between 5th October and January at Leith Academy Pool on Saturday Afternoons 2pm – 3:30pm (one of the last Pools with a 3 Metre Deep End), We also run Pub/Club Nights Monthly at the Hawes Inn South Queensferry or in an Edinburgh Pub. EQUIPMENT
The club currently runs 2 Boats, a well equipped 5.5m Northcraft RIB, and a similarly equipped 5m Ospreay RIB, unusually for a Club we also have several drysuits for Hire by Club Members, along along with cylinders, BC’s, regulators and other basic equipment.
DIVING
Diving takes place most Weekends throughout the year to sites on the East and West coast of Scotland (weather permitting), and during the Summer on Wednesday Nights.
Dive Trips of longer duration (usually 2-4 days) are organised to places of interest in Scotland at intervals throughout the year, Sound of Mull, Scapa Flow, Sound of Jura are someof our regular Trips. Overseas Expeditions are regularly organised for suitably qualified divers, in recent years we have been several times to the Red Sea, Malta and Gozo..
SQSAC is a small, friendly club with an excellent record for Training, as well as organising Adventurous and Interesting Diving, and we are sure you would enjoy it.
